September 3, 2006 - FAREWELL, SCOUNDRELS!
It's
with great sadness that Broadway bids farewell to the fabulous
musical comedy, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels as it bows out for a final
performance on Sunday, September 3, 2006. Lucie had to take
leave from her performances as the wealthy socialite, Muriel
Eubanks, while she recovers from knee surgery. But, upon
hearing of the impending closing of the show, Lucie has made an
early return to the stage, recovering knee and all, to carry
Muriel deservedly to the end of her run in Broadway's Imperial
Theatre. If, like me, you're unable to be there in person to
see the final shows of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, let the following
note from Lucie wonderfully transport you to first row...

July 25, 2006 - LUCIE'S
BIRTHDAY RECAP!
Lucie performs for her Birthday Bash at Birdland:
A
Birdland note from Lucie:
Thanks so much to all of my wonderful friends who sent
me birthday wishes last week on this website. It was
so heartwarming to hear from so many of you all over
the world. What a thrill to know I have people
cheering me on from Australia to Canada to the US to
Poland!
It
was probably the best birthday I ever had. Thanks to
all of the great friends and fans I have acquired over
the years who made reservations, we had a SOLD OUT,
STANDING ROOM ONLY crowd for my Birthday Bash at
Birdland. It was truly "out of this world."
A
spontaneous roar of love and support greeted me upon
my introduction and continued throughout the night
from a savvy, exhilarated audience who had come from
all parts of the country and were eager to be
thoroughly entertained. And I think we did just
that..... for nearly 2 hours.
My
thanks to my musical director, Ron Abel, from Los
Angeles and my wonderful drummer from Florida, Julie
Jacobs, for flying in to play as their birthday gifts
to me. To two of New York's best musicians, Gary Haas
and Dave Mann for joining us on Bass and Reeds,
respectively. And to my beautiful, handsome son, Simon
Luckinbill, for being my entire percussion back up
towards the end of the night on Congas. I will never
forget watching you take stage in CUMBANCHERO. (I know
Granpa Desi was smiling his biggest smile.) Thanks,
also to David Galligan for volunteering to run my
lights and to my dear friend and "managent,"
David Williams, for all of his leg work, upfront,
making sure that this night was as special for us all
as it turned out to be. And to my right arm, Elisabeth
Edwards, at ArLuck Entertainment, for her endless
patience and good spirits as she tried to deal with
all the people who wanted seats. (Kieth would have been
so proud, EE!)
I
cannot possibly thank my special guests, Billy Stritch,
Julie Budd, Valerie Pettiford, Phoebe Snow and Michele
Lee enough for agreeing to come up onstage with me and
share a tiny bit of their amazing gifts with the rest
of us. And last, but certainly not least, thanks to my
good friend, the uber talented, Jim Caruso, and Gianni
Valenti at the world renowned Birdland Jazz Club for
inviting me to perform in the first place. It was
surely a night to remember!

& LIZA AT BILLY STRITCH'S SHOW
Thanks
to Mark, here are some photos from Billy Stritch's show on Sunday,
June 4, with Lucie, Larry and Liza Minnelli (see further photos
underneath description*). About the fabulous show, Lucie
says:
"We
were there Sunday evening after my Sunday matinee performance
June 4th. Billy Stritch was in rare form. Never
has he sung better. It was a beautifully produced event- a
wonderful selection of Torme' tunes and his band rocked.
Michael Feinstein was there- the master musical historian and he
was revelling in Billy's choices. And it was a such a delightful
surprise to see my pal, Liza, after way too long. She and I
huddled together and teared up a bit when Billy started
to introduce "Breezin' Along With The Breeze". He
explained to the audience that it was from the film "The Long
Long Trailer", directed by Vincent Minnelli and starring
Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz and during the song we just
automatically started quietly singing along with him,
harmonizing in each others ears. Nice moment. Nice memory."

March 21, 2006 - DIRTY
ROTTEN
LUCIE!
LUCIE
IS BACK ON BROADWAY!! Lucie Arnaz is set to co-star in
the smash hit Broadway musical, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels!!
On May 30, Lucie will be taking over the role of Muriel after Joanna Gleason, who currently plays the character, leaves
the show. As Lucie tells us, "Dirty Rotten
Scoundrels is my favorite Broadway musical of last season!
Joanna Gleason is leaving and I couldn't be happier to be filling
her Ferragamos. Jonathan Pryce and Rachel York have just recently
joined the company, Norbert is still knockin' 'em dead every night
and the show is hotter than ever. I will take over the role around
June 1st. But, please give me a week or so not to be tripping on
the turntable. After taking over a role in My One And Only, I know
what it feels like to leap onto these moving trains-thrilling and
horribly scary!" Congratulations, Lucie, we're looking
forward to it!! Dirty Rotten Scoundrels has been heralded
"...Superior in every way. One of the liveliest, funniest
best-performed musicals in years" by New York Post,
and "...a pluperfect hit!" by The Wall Street
Journal. Click
