U.S. Debut of
Valerio Festi's Large-Scale Outdoor Theatrical Production 'Of Angels and
Light' Headlines Colorado Festival of World Theatre in July
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Colorado Springs will
become the permanent home of a new summer theatre arts festival in 2005,
which will serve as an annual showcase for internationally renowned
performers and shows.
The Colorado Festival of World Theatre will stage a
"mini-festival" this summer, which will feature theatre,
cabaret and expressive reading performances on July 14, 15, 17 and 18,
as the prelude to next year's grand opening of the permanent Colorado
Springs-area summer festival.
July Features Unique U.S. Debut Headlining this year's
"mini-festival" in July will be the U.S. debut of Italian
theatre visionary Valerio Festi's "Of Angels and Light." Festi
is the acknowledged international master of live public art, developed
to celebrate the magnificence of human creativity on the grandest of
scales. His Studio Festi theatre company has performed in more than 200
cities worldwide. Studio Festi will come to the U.S. for the first time
in 20 years, and will present the first two U.S. performances for
"Of Angels and Light."
The show will transform The Broadmoor Resort's grounds into a celestial
playground of music and light, where angels descend to earth suspended
from huge, helium-filled spheres of light floating high above the crowd,
performers spin and dance above the heads of the audience, and
transparent spheres roll through the crowd with performers inside.
Tickets At $25
Tickets to the "Of Angels and Light" debut performances, July
14 and 15 at 9:30 p.m., are just $25, and are available through the
Pikes Peak Center box office at 719-520-SHOW, CWT Travel Trek at
719-687-3053, and TicketMaster. "Colorado Springs will become a
leading summer performing arts center next year when the Colorado
Festival of World Theatre launches its summer-long program of
events," said James B. Hayes, chairman of the festival. "We're
very proud to bring this level of world-renowned performers and recitals
of international theatre to the United States and Colorado Springs, all
right here in the magnificent setting of our Rocky Mountains." This
year's mini-festival is providing a glimpse into the level and variety
of performances that will tour through Colorado Springs when the
festival launches in 2005. "This year's mini-festival presents a
wide array of theatrical brilliance with a breathtaking selection of
some of the world's most dramatic actors and entertainers, including Ben
Vereen, Lucie Arnaz, Peter Duchin, and Eva Marie Saint,"
said Linda Purl, Colorado Festival of World Theatre founder,

arts for future generations through the creation of this festival in
