** SET 5. **

Q. Lucie~ First of all I'd like to say how much I enjoyed your performance in ABDUCTION OF INNOCENCE! I was just curious what you are currently working on and I know this sounds like a weird question but what kind of a car do you drive?
LUCIE: I have a film (Down to You) with Freddie Prinze, Jr. and Henry Winkler coming out in January. I am also going to be performing my cabaret act at the new Feinstein's at the Regency in New York city for two weeks (February ** 15-26). Meanwhile, I am working on the script and score to The Witches of Eastwick which is a new Cameron Mackintosh musical I will be doing in London, opening in late spring 2000.
And, I drive a green Nissan Pathfinder!
Q. Dear Lucie: Thank you so much for taking some of your personal time to answer these questions. Is it possible that your current production of " Wonderful Town" will be staged/booked in Toronto, or for any other Canadian venues? Also, I am greatly distressed that the entertainment industry doesn't seem to value "family value programming" like the "I Love Lucy"shows. What's your opinion on this?
LUCIE: I have no current plans to come to Canada, as you can tell from other questions that I will be in London for the next year or more. Wonderful Town was fun but it was only booked for the few weeks in Los Angeles, and as far as I know there are no other plans for it at this time. I think there are still lots of good, family shows on television. You just have to search a bit harder to find them. Try Paxnet or Lifetime.
Q. Hi Lucie! I was just wondering...were your mother's ears pierced? Thanks!
LUCIE: No. But mine are (diamonds are always appreciated!)
Q. Lucie--- Was "Love, Lucy" edited in anyway? Was there parts that were added or taken out? You said that your mom told Gary if she released the book, it would hurt your dad....were her opinions softened, as to not hurt anyone? Thanks for your time!!!
LUCIE: I edited the manuscript that became Love, Lucy myself, only to take out inaccuracies, which, if my mother were still here, she would have wanted clarified. The copy we found was only a first draft and had never been corrected. I actually put back many of the things that she had marked as possible cuts because I felt, in retrospect, they were very valuable insights to my parents' marriage or their business.
Q. Hello there Lucie, I am a huge fan of you and your mother's. I have something on my mind and it is just bugging me to death. Will you please inform me of the names of your mother two cocker spaniels? I am just dying to find out. Thank you for reading this and thank you for your time and thoughtfulness.
LUCIE: The dogs were Toy and Pinto.
Q. Lucie, I have been wondering something for some time now and I wondered if you could clear it up. I bought some Lucille Ball trading cards from The Lighter Side catalogue, with one card that has your's and your brother's autographs. Did you hand-sign these, or was it stamped? Thanks so much!!
LUCIE: My brother and I hand signed them for days and days and days and days and days and days and...
Q. Hello Lucie, Very interesting website, thanks for taking the time to answer web viewers questions. I'd like to learn more about your dad, there's quite a bit more info on your mom. When was he born ? Was he musically inclined as a child ? Do you have any relatives residing in Cuba ? How did he propose marriage to your mom ? Thanks!
LUCIE: Desiderio Alberto Arnaz III was born in Santiago de Cuba on March 2, 1917.He learned to play the guitar and the conga drums at a very young age. My father had no siblings, but most of my Arnaz relatives are now living in the Miami area.
Quoting from my father's autobiography, A Book --
"We hadn't seen each other for a long time so we kissed and we apologized forall the nasty things we had said to each other over the telephone. We kissed again and made love in a hurry, because I had to go back to the Roxy and do the next show.
As I was leaving, I told Lucy, "This girl [a reporter] is going to have a hell of a time with that story."
"Why?"
"Because I have everything arranged to marry you tomorrow morning, if you would like to marry me."
She said, "Where?"
"In Connecticut," I answered.
"You're kidding, right?"
"No, I'm not kidding. I want to marry you and I want to marry you tomorrow."
Q. Hi, I was wondering how tall was your dad? On I Love Lucy in one episode think it was "The Ricardos Are Interviewed" Lucy says that Ricky is 5'11 1/2". Was that true for your dad too? Because in different I Love Lucy episodes throughout the series sometimes it looked like Lucy and Ricky were the same height, or Ricky was taller than everyone, or he was shorter than Lucy. Also, last year when PAX used to air "Here's Lucy" I really enjoyed watching the show, I'm so sad that they don't air it anymore, but I was wondering which episode was your favorite? I think I liked the last episode where Kim was the waitress at the restaurant and she acted really badly towards the customers, that episode was funny. Thank you so much for reading.
LUCIE: My mother was 5' 7.5" and my father was 5' 11.5". Sometimes if my mother wore heels they would be about the same height. I have dozens of Here's Lucy favourites -- the Hawaiian Show Part II, Ruth Buzzi guest episode, "Shirley Shopenhower" secretary bit, all the musicals, etc., etc.
Q. Dear Lucie, I have so many questions, I don't know how to choose! I think it's wonderful that you are willing to take time out of your busy schedule to respond to our questions! I was wondering if you would be willing to tell me what your mom was like. Did she like constantly being in the public eye? What was the real Lucy like? Was she like "Lucy Ricardo" at all? What were Lucy and Desi like as parents? What were you and Desi Jr. like as children? I know this is a lot to ask, but I am really interested in the enormous effect she has had, and continues to have, on the world. Thanks a billion!
LUCIE: The first thing to do is to obtain a copy of Lucy & Desi: A Home Movie (you can get it from Cathy's Closet or from the Universal Studios gift shop) because I made that documentary to try and FINALLY answer all those questions. Let me know if you still don't have the answers after you have seen the tape.
** Lucie's engagement at Feinstein's at The Regency (NY) has been changed from Feb 1-15 to Feb.15-26, make sure you change your calendars!
